Mitral and Tricuspid Valve Closure

چکیده
Echocardiography was used to evaluate mitral and tricuspid valve closure in patients 1 day to 20 years of age. When possible, simultaneous phonocardiograms were obtained. The difference in time between the Q wave of the electrocardiogram and mitral closure and between Q and tricuspid closure was designated the delta value (A). Four groups of patients were assessed: 1) normals (40), secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) (10), mitral valve prolapse syndrome (Barlow's syndrome) (13), pulmonary hypertension (12), and pulmonic stenosis (6); 2) Ebstein's anomaly (10); 3) transposition of the great vessels (15); 4) right bundle branch block (RBBB) (25). Ten patients with surgically induced right bundle branch block

Right sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.
Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...
متن کاملSimultaneous closure of the tricuspid and mitral valve in Ebstein's anomaly.
Echocardiographic studies of a 23-year-old man with Ebstein's anomaly and type B Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome showed almost simultaneous closure of the tricuspid and mitral valve. After administration of edrophonium chloride, the tricuspid valve closed 20 msec earlier than the mitral valve. However, the closure of the mitral valve preceded that of the tricuspid valve after administration of a...
متن کاملFactors responsible for normal splitting of first heart sound. High-speed echophonocardiographic study of valve movement.
Echocardiographic studies have confirmed that normal splitting of the first heart sound is a result of mitral valve closure preceding tricuspid valve closure. This fits in with contraction of the left ventricle before the right, but the width of splitting is usually greater than would be expected from the known ventricular asynchrony. The importance of atrial systole, which initiates closure of...
متن کاملValue of M-mode echocardiography for non-invasive diagnosis of Ebstein's anomaly.
M-mode echocardiographic studies were performed in 11 patients, most of them adults, with Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve, proven by cardiac catheterisation. Simultaneous recordings of the tricuspid and mitral valves were obtained in all cases, the transducer position being outside the left midclavicular line in seven patients. Tricuspid valve closure followed mitral valve closure in a...
متن کاملEchophonocardiographic studies of the contribution of the atrioventricular valves to the first heart sound.
The movements of the mitral, tricuspid and aortic valves have been recorded echocardiographically and related to the first heart sound (S1) in patients with various hemodynamic and conduction abnormalities. Closure of the mitral and tricuspid valves has been studied with respect to the corresponding atrioventricular pressure crossover and it is clear that both valves finish closing about 50 mse...
